Fugees Are Getting Back Together For 25th Anniversary Reunion Tour

Ready or not, here they come: Fugees are getting back together.

The original Fugees lineup of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel are reuniting for a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their second and most recent album, The Score.

The Score was released in February 1996 and features a great many of the Fugees’ best-known songs. ‘Fu-Gee-La’ was the first single from the album, which also included the group’s iconic covers of ‘Killing Me Softly’ and ‘No Woman No Cry’.

The Score topped the US Billboard 200 and has gone Platinum all over the world, including in Australia. It’s achieved 5x Platinum certification in the UK and 7x Platinum in the US. However, the group members all embarked on solo projects the year after its release and, aside from a European tour in 2005, they haven’t worked together since.

The Score anniversary tour begins with a pop up show in New York City tonight (Wednesday, 22nd September). It then kicks off in earnest in November, with the majority of shows taking place across the USA. The trio will also head to London, Paris, Nigeria and Ghana before the year is out.

In a press release, Hill spoke of her decision to reunite with Jean and Michel. “I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world.”
