KEVIN!!!!!! Macaulay Culkin is heading to Australia this November for a trio of very nostalgic nights celebrating the Chrissy classic, Home Alone.
And unlike the McCallister family’s infamous 1990 holiday departure, this time everyone appears to have remembered to include him in the travel plans.
Dubbed Home Alone: A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Culkin, the special events will take over Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney, pairing a big-screen screening of the beloved John Hughes flick with a live moderated interview and Q&A featuring the grown-up Kevin McCallister himself.
Culkin will be on hand to spill behind-the-scenes stories from the movie, revisit his memories from filming and discuss why a film about an eight-year-old being abandoned by his entire family at Christmas and subsequently waging psychological warfare against two burglars has somehow remained wholesome festive viewing for more than three decades.
The tour will kick off at Brisbane’s Fortitude Music Hall on Tuesday, 24th November before hitting Melbourne’s Regent Theatre on Friday, 27th November and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Sunday, 29th November.
Limited VIP tickets will also be available, including a post-show photo opportunity with Culkin – so you can finally obtain photographic evidence that you met Kevin McCallister without having to break into his house first.
Released in 1990, Home Alone catapulted Culkin to international stardom for his performance as the resourceful youngster accidentally left behind when his family jets overseas for the silly season.
The role earned Culkin a Golden Globe nomination and spawned the enormously successful sequel Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, in which the McCallisters somehow managed to lose the same child during Christmas travel AGAIN.
Look, international airports were clearly a different beast in the early ’90s.
Culkin went on to appear in movies including My Girl, Uncle Buck, Saved!, Party Monster and Changeland, as well as TV series including American Horror Story, The Righteous Gemstones and Fallout.
And yes, music fans may also remember Culkin as a member of The Pizza Underground, his Velvet Underground parody band dedicated almost entirely to songs about pizza. Because apparently defeating the Wet Bandits was only the beginning of this man’s cultural contribution.
Culkin was most recently honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame celebrating his 40 years in the entertainment industry.
Presale tickets for his Australian Home Alone events go live from 10am local time on Monday, 21st September, before general tickets go on sale from 11am local time on Wednesday, 23rd September.
So slap on some aftershave, fire up the Talkboy and prepare your most elaborate series of household booby traps.
