Soundwave top dog AJ Maddah has a reputation for being brutally honest, a rep he lived up to tonight after a fan tweeted the ever-active I’m Not Shouting Twitter account on the odds of punk rock outfit Good Charlotte. And all hell seemed to break lose.
Maddah originally replied that if the band, who headlined the first ever Soundwave back in 2004, were to play the festival again, “it’ll mean I’ve quit the festival and killed myself out of shame”. Fans of the band were quick to defend; AJ soon found himself at the receiving end of Good Charlotte fans AND an official fan club. Though keeping his cool, Maddah admitted to taking it too far, ending the debate with: “But I actually know those guys and they are not good people”.
Things were pretty heated before that point though; check out some of the tweets below.
Good Charlotte won’t be making the trip down for Soundwave (Lineup coming next week!!!) as they will be in town for Fat As Butter this coming September. Dates have been announced for their Newcastle festival appearance as well as their own headlining sideshows.
@brookewhatnow if Good Charlotte ever play SW again it'll mean I've quit the festival and killed myself out of shame.
