Splendour In The Grass has now unveiled the timetable for the 2013 edition of its Splendour Forum program and making an appearance will be none other than Julian Assange, featuring on a discussion panel set to tackle a topic close to his heart.
The “Can we trust the media?” discussion on Splendour Friday will feature our Jules, appearing via video link, in a discussion moderated by Fairfax online editor Hugh Martin. The panel promises to discuss such questions as, “Who is safeguarding us against corruption by governments, officials, corporations and criminals? If we can’t trust the media, who can we trust?”
The “Can we trust the media?” panel will also feature the wisdom of Dominic Knight from The Chaser, Ten Network boss Russel Howcroft, Can Of Worms identity Dan Ilic, Andrew Crook (Crikey.com.au) and comedian Alice Fraser to break things up.
Assange joins a number of high-profile guest speakers at the Splendour Forum, which is set to offer a cognitive buffet for punters who want their fill of brain food between bands.
This year the Forum offers such features as a screening session of the documentary The Sunnyboy – about Sunnyboys frontman Jeremy Oxley – followed by a Q&A with the director, as well as a Q&A with Greens senator Christine Milne, a discussion about ayahuasca featuring Ben Lee, songwriting panels, loads of philosophising and plenty of comedy to boot.
Assange previously appeared at Splendour via a pre-recorded video back in 2011, where he reached out to punters to be the “agents and writers” of their own story. You can check that address below, where we also have the full timetable for the Splendour Forum.
