AFI have returned, baring their fangs, on I Hope You Suffer, the first single from their forthcoming studio album. The track won’t be officially released by the band’s label Republic Records until Tuesday, 23rd July but you can stream the full jam below.
With a name like I Hope You Suffer, AFI make no secret of the fact that they’re coming back swinging. The demanding drums leave you with just a few moments to get your bearings before Davey Havok’s vocal creep into the equation. Things go from a meek whisper to a straight up roar as Havok wishes some seriously poor fortune upon a former flame.
I Hope You Suffer comes weeks after the band teased fans with a snazzy little promo video which featured a brief moment of new material.
By the sounds of things, we won’t be waiting too long before we have more new material from the band as their 9th studio album, crafted with the help of Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters, Surfer Blood), is expected to drop this coming Spring.
