Boy & Bear‘s sophomore album, Harlequin Dream, is scheduled for release in just a couple of weeks’ time, and today we’re giving you an exclusive sneak peek at what went into making the record with the first in a series of behind-the-scenes videos.
Soundtracked by fantastic lead single, Southern Sun, the video sees singer Dave Hosking talk us through the writing process behind the track as we get a glimpse at the recording sessions for the album. Hosking reveals that Southern Sun serves as the kicking off point for the record, with the dreamy prelude acting as a “gateway” for the rest of the album.
Harlequin Dream is the follow up to the band’s platinum-selling, multiple Aria-winning debut Moonfire, and was recorded at the fabled Alberts studio in Neutral Bay – with strings recorded at Sydney’s Trackdown Studios, judging from the video.
The team behind the record are well anointed in their own right – producer Wayne Connolly (The Vines, Dappled Cities) has his own swag of Arias, and mixer Phil Ek has worked with some of indie’s biggest names including Fleet Foxes and Band Of Horses.
Harlequin Dream is available for pre-order right now, and fans can grab themselves a special deluxe pack directly from the band’s website. It’s officially released Friday, 16th August.
