Australian Indie-rock band Boy & Bear are gearing up for a special celebration as they mark the tenth anniversary of their beloved 2013 album, Harlequin Dream. The band has announced an Australian tour titled, Harlequin Dream 10-year celebration tour, which is scheduled for May and August.
The band will rock stages across Australia, beginning at Melbourne’s Forum on May 24th, followed by Sydney’s State Theatre on May 25th, Perth’s Astor Theatre on May 31st, and will conclude the tour at Brisbane’s The Tivoli on May 16th.
Boy & Bear – ‘Abraham’
Boy & Bear, an Australian group, burst onto the music scene in the early 2010s, charming audiences with their heartfelt indie folk-rock tunes, akin to Fleet Foxes and Mumford & Sons. Their debut album, Moonfire, released in 2011, went platinum in Australia, setting the stage for two more chart-topping albums and global tours.
Originally it was the solo project of singer-songwriter Dave Hosking, later Boy & Bear expanded to include guitarist Killian Gavin, bassist Jake Tarasenko, and brothers Tim (drums) and Jon Hart (mandolin, keyboards). Their debut EP, “With Emperor Antarctica,” led to a record deal with Island Records.
Their album Harlequin Dream, released in 2013, also went platinum in Australia, solidifying their status as a household name. Despite lineup changes over the years, including Dave Symes replacing Tarasenko on bass, the band continued to thrive.
In 2023, Boy & Bear released their fifth album, aptly named Boy & Bear, blending their signature folk-pop style with electronic elements, showcasing their evolution as musicians.
