Sydney via Hong Kong artist Rainbow Chan, who’s made 2013 a year of massive accomplishments, including releasing her acclaimed debut EP Long Vacation, funding a successful kickstarter, and embarking on a successful tour, has now unveiled a remix of her track Haircut by Nick Zinner.
Following a highly acclaimed Australia-New Zealand tour and an appearance at BIGSOUND that people are still talking about, Rainbow Chan plans to release a string of remixes of tracks from Long Vacation, launching with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist’s interpretation of Haircut.
Nick’s remix is a departure from his characteristically acrid, garage-laced, post-punk roots, offering a polyrhythmic, percussive take on the track, putting Rainbow Chan’s delicate vocals at the front of the mix and focussing on samba-like rhythms that lend a summery, tropical feel to the track.
