Meet PENI PARKER: a sonic bombshell of 90’s grunge angst and anarcha-femme punk energy who’s about to make some serious noise.
The Sydney artist is ready to stiletto-stamp her mark down on the musical landscape with debut offering ‘DESTROYHER’, out tomorrow.
The track, produced by former drummer of The Prodigy, Kieron Pepper, delivers an audio assault of crunchy guitar riffage and infectiously angry alt-rock vocals in a raucous rebellion against the narcissists we all know.
And not only do we have your exclusive sneak peek of the track down below, we’re also proudly premiering the official music video.
Featuring PENI PARKER physically bound in chains, the clip pulls the viewer into a turbulent narrative that reaches its climax with a dramatic anime fight scene, encapsulating the artist’s knack for stitching pieces of millennial pop culture into her quirky aesthetics.
“I hope the energy in this song either inspires someone to challenge their human & say hey this is enough.. or maybe even act as a wake up call for that person to reach out for help themselves,” the artist explains.
And in true punk form, the video was filmed 100% DIY on a smart phone camera and edited together by the artist herself.
“I wanted to do a completely DIY video with mates, shot and edited on an iphone13..” PARKER continues.
“It was such a wild experience not just being behind the camera, I don’t think i’ll edit a whole video again though haha all props to videographers.. that sh*t is tricky.”
PENI PARKER will launch ‘DESTROYHER’ live at a SOLD OUT Vivienne Westwood-themed event, featuring live music, fashion and art, at a Sydney warehouse location on Friday, 3rd December.
