SPANDEX — The Aquabats
For Fans Of: Steel Panther
Though they have little in common sonically with everyone’s favourite bunch of venereal disease-ridden spandex wearers Steel Panther, fans of the former band will likely enjoy The Aquabats‘ stage show just as much.
Easily identified by their silver helmets, black Zorro masks and matching blue costumes, The Aquabats claim to be crime-fighting superheroes and “seriously…the best band in the world.”
The glamourously costumed group are so entertaining, they even had their own show one time. The Aquabats! Super Show! was a live-action musical action-comedy TV series which aired on American cable, ran for two seasons and even won a Daytime Emmy Award.
With a musical style that meshes rock and punk with elements of new wave, ska and synthpop, The Aquabats are renowned for their theatrical live show, which typically features various stunts and fight scenes involving costumed villains and monsters. Kind of like the PG version of Panther.
That will all be happening on Soundwave’s Stage 3, from 8pm on Faith No More day.
