Splendour In The Grass Interview Podcast Series: Fat Freddy’s Drop

Over the coming weeks, we’ll be showcasing an array of interviews with the finest artists on the 2013 Splendour In The Grass roster, and what better way to kick things off than a catch up with New Zealand’s ambassadors of funk Fat Freddy’s Drop, who are also gearing up to enter the new album cycle with their latest studio treat, Blackbird.

Chatting to saxophonist Scott Towers (aka Chopper Readz) we got down to the brass tacks on their forthcoming studio LP Blackbird. The album’s release date of Friday, 21st June has crept up on us and the band seem fairly stoked on what they’ve been working on.

Already we’ve heard singles Silver and Gold and Clean the House so we chat about how these tracks have set up the full release, as well as talking about bringing together generations of fans, and who will have The Drop getting their groove on at SITG.

Listen to the interview below and download the whole thing for future enjoyment here. You can also check out some killer snaps from last year’s Splendour below, and stay tuned to Music Feeds for more interviews with your favourite Splendour artists in the lead-up to Australia’s biggest winter festival.
