Field Day 2012, The Domain – 01/01/2012

Kick-starting the New Year in the leafy surrounds of Sydney’s stunning Domain, 32 of the hottest Australian and International artists in music, including Justice (live), Calvin Harris, Example, Gotye, Moby (DJ set) and Flight Facilities entertained 20,000 young Sydneysiders as they partied their way into 2012 at Sydney’s Field Day Festival, which sold out for the 11th consecutive year.

Bringing together a colourful assortment of electronic, indie, hip hop dubstep and dance sounds, Field Day 2012 embraced music-lovers with a charged atmosphere to celebrate the New Year in true Sydney style – with a perfect summer’s day, beautiful people and the setting sun framed by the stunning city skyline.

Calvin Harris gave the crowds what they came for with a pumping afternoon set of all the hits he has become globally loved for and as day progressed to early evening, incredible showman Example took to the stage and had everyone jumping up and down in unison to Changed the Way You Kissed Me and his new hit Midnight Run, always full of energy, belting out track after track as dusk fell, commenting that Field Day is ‘the best possible way to start the new year’.

An afternoon highlight was the entire smiling crowd singing along at the top of their lungs to Gotye’s number one hit Somebody That I Used To Know. French electro rock gods Justice were on hand with a huge stage set to provide the grand finale of the day – a full house witnessing the world premiere of their new live show pumping up crowds with all their hits and their recent album Audio, Video, Disco.

Fuzzy Director John Wall said:

With such perfect weather, a lush green venue and a beautiful crowd of people here to share it, I’m reminded how lucky I am to be starting the year here, at Field Day!
