Alanis Morissette Releases New Single Ahead Of 2022 Aus Tour

Alanis Morissette will bring her Jagged Little Pill twenty-fifth anniversary tour to Australia in November 2022. In the lead-up, the Canadian performer has released the new single, ‘Olive Branch’.

Jagged Little Pill came out in June 1995 when Morissette was just 21 years old. Following two albums of innocuous dance pop – Alanis (1991) and Now is the Time (1992) – Jagged Little Pill marked a wholesale embrace of alternative- and pop-rock. The album gave rise to a raft of career-defining singles, including ‘You Oughta Know’, ‘Hand in My Pocket’, ‘Ironic’, ‘You Learn’, ‘Head Over Feet’ and ‘All I Really Want’.

The Jagged Little Pill 25th anniversary tour was originally scheduled for 2020, but had to be rescheduled multiple times due to Covid. The tour, which features support act Julia Stone, includes two shows in Melbourne, plus stops in Perth and Sydney. Details here.

Jagged Little was adapted into a stage musical in 2018. The internationally lauded show has just wrapped up a stint at Melbourne’s Comedy Theatre and will travel to Perth’s Crown Theatre in May before returning to Sydney’s Theatre Royal in July. More info here.

The Morissette documentary, Jagged, aired on HBO last November. The film included multiple allegations of statutory rape from Morissette, who said, “I would always say I was consenting and then I’d be reminded, like, ‘Hey, you were 15, you’re not consenting at 15.’ Now I’m like, ‘Oh yeah, they’re all paedophiles. It’s all statutory rape.’”

In 2020, Morissette released her ninth studio album, Such Pretty Forks in the Road. ‘Olive Branch’ follows the 2021 single, ‘On the Road Again’, featuring Willie Nelson. Listen to ‘Olive Branch’ below.
