Having canceled tour dates across the US only a few weeks ago, it has just emerged that legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer report The Detroit News. While no official statement has been released, a close relative reportedly confirmed the news.
One of the worst types of cancer to be diagnosed with, patients only having a 5% chance of living five years, this is dire news for the star and her family. Still with other high profile sufferers of the illness such as Apple CEO Steve Jobs and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg having recovered there is still hope.
Our best wishes go out to Aretha and those close to her, stay tuned for details as they become available.
