Aussie street artist Lushsux has found himself at the centre of controversy (again), this time over a new mural of Linkin Park‘s late frontman Chester Bennington.
The mural has been painted as part of a series of works by Lushsux at the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, Austria, but has prompted a mixed response from punters on social media.
Some have taken issue with the fact that Lushsux painted Bennington’s likeness next to a picture of Kendall Jenner, while others have called him out for the Linkin Park lyrics used and the “something takes a part of me…” lyrics that are also featured, from the Korn song ‘Freak On A Leash’:
Lushsux has since defended his newest mural in a brief statement to Music Feeds, saying, “No [one] ever said it was too soon to make a joke about the dead. I’m a huge KoRn fan, so…”
There have also been plenty of comments of support for Lushsux’s new mural as well.
Following Bennington’s passing, Korn’s Brian ‘Head’ Welch called the singer’s death “cowardly”, but Korn have since performed a tribute to him.
This isn’t the first time Lushsux’s work has come under fire, with the artist recently telling Music Feeds that he believed Dave Grohl complained about a mural of his own likeness shortly before it was painted over.
