Darwin doesn’t normally get a whole lot of music festival love. So when it does, you wanna hope they make it count.
And this time, they undeniably have. The 14th annual BASSINTHEGRASS festival has just unveiled its 2016 lineup, featuring a list of blockbuster homegrown acts.
“Territorians of all ages look forward to BASSINTHEGRASS every year and it is a part of the great Territory lifestyle,” Chief Minister Adam Giles said as he unveiled the lineup today.
“BASSINTHEGRASS is proudly presented by the Northern Territory Government which supports the event to the tune of $460,000 each year,” he continued. “This year’s line-up continues to deliver top class acts with something for everyone and every taste.”
It must be nice to have a local Government that supports music festival initiatives instead of trying to ban them. Just sayin’.
Anyhoo, 2016 also marks a significant milestone for BASSINTHEGRASS, with an extension of the People’s Choice Credit Union’s 10-year sponsorship of the event.
People’s Choice CEO Steve Laidlaw says he’s stoked that they’ll continue their support of the much-loved festival for another three years.
“We’re proud to see People’s Choice BASSINTHEGRASS grow into such a highly-anticipated nationally acclaimed festival each year and we commend the Northern Territory Government for its continued investment into this fantastic event,” he said.
Tickets to BASSINTHEGRASS will also be cheaper and more accessible to punters this year.
But don’t worry, that doesn’t mean you won’t still receive your traditional BASSINTHEGRASS souvenir hat included in the ticket price, which is a nice way to – uh – cap things off.
BASSINTHEGRASS 2016 will be held at the picturesque Darwin Botanic Gardens Amphitheatre on Saturday, 21st May.
Tickets go on sale from 7am (NT time) on Thursday, 11th February. Check out the full lineup and ticketing details below.
