Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armonstrong has shut down rumours that the band are breaking up.
The rumours were sparked by Armstrong’s involvement with new band The Longshot who released their debut album Love Is For Losers last week.
During an Instagram story, Armstrong was stern in his response to the rumours telling those perpetuating them to, “shut the fuck up.”
“Some of you are asking about Green Day and if there’s anything wrong, or if we’re breaking up. The answer is: no,” he said.
He clarified that he’s just, “fun with some of my friends,” and it doesn’t mean he’s going to ditch his main project anytime soon.
“You’re a fucking whiner, and I’m playing music because that’s what I’m supposed to do. That’s what people that play guitar, and drums, and bass, and they sing – this is what we do.”
He concluded, “So if you don’t like it, then fuck off. And if you do like it, come along, because it’s a lot of fun. Alright? Have a pleasant day.”
The Longshot have tour dates announced right through until June while Green Day don’t have any planned right now. By the sounds of it though, the band isn’t coming to an end anytime soon so you can all breathe a sigh of relief.
