So, pioneering Australian punk rockers BODYJAR are pulling the plug. Tha…tha… tha … that’s all folks !
Well almost … there’s just the matter of one final national blitzkreig of live shows: THE END IS NOW Tour. Fifteen shows across six states. Sorry NT & ACT … The Jar just aren’t into Territories right now. For the rest of us though this is the final chance to see this landmark band before they pass over into the realm of legend.
To pay their respects, fellow hard rocking troublemakers 28days are staging a one-off re-formation to join The Jar for the Melbourne show and all Queensland dates. These shows will also be graced with performances by BEHIND CRIMSON EYES. (Supports in other regions to be announced shortly.)
Jar frontman Cam reckons “ We’re stoked to be sharing the stage a few last times with both these bands. It should make for an awesome send off. BCE are a great bunch of blokes and we go way back with 28days … I’ll never forget standing on the footpath in Newcastle at 4 in the morning having just been woken up and evacuated from our hotel. There was us, 28days and no lying, the Wiggles …. in their skivvies !! Seems someone set off a fire alarm pulling bongs in the dunny. I had my suspicions … I mean what’s up with the skivvies at that time of night ? “
And just to re-cap for the un-initiated or uninformed … for over a decade BODYJAR have experienced the complete gamut of rock and delivered the goods under all conditions. They have played and slayed for as few as 3 people at the humble Tote Hotel, Collingwood through to blowing away crowds of 45,000 in Korea and selling out shows in Japan. Largely ignored by Australian commercial radio the JAR still managed to pick up a couple of Gold Records along the way. Apart from releases through EMI, BODYJAR also released albums internationally and locally on classic punk labels … ‘Revelation’, ‘Burning Heart’ and ‘Shock’. Without a doubt BODYJAR are one of the most respected punk bands in the world and have written some cracker tunes to earn that respect… ‘One in a Million’, ‘Lights Out’, ‘Not the Same’, ‘Glossy Books’, ‘Fall to the Ground ’ etc etc…
So there you have it in a nut shell. An end of an era ? For many yes, but at the very least it is the end of one of the most talented punk bands this country has ever produced. You’d be mad to miss ’em on their final tour and never mind the usual bollocks… tickets really are going fast so be warned …. THE END IS NOW !
