BTS Members RM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook Prepare for Military Service

Four members of K-pop group BTSRM, Jimin, V and Jung Kook – are set to commence their compulsory military service. This update follows the enlistment of Jin in December last year, as well as j-hope and SUGA, who have already commenced their mandatory military service.

The news was announced via BigHit Music’s official social media channels, with the band’s label saying, “We would like to inform our fans that RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook have initiated the military enlistment process.”

BTS is Likely To Reunite in 2025

While some BTS fans were shocked by the announcement, the label has requested their ongoing support. “We will inform you of further updates in due course,” BigHit said. “We ask for your continued love and support for RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook until they complete their military service and return safely.”

South Korean law requires all able-bodied men to serve in the army for 18 months by the time they are 28, though a law (now referred to as the “BTS law”) was passed in 2020 allowing South Koreans who “excel in popular culture and art” to defer service until the age of 30.

30-year-old Jin is the eldest member of BTS, and he’s set to be released from the military on 12th June, 2024 – one day before the group’s 11th anniversary. J-hope (29) will also return later in 2024, while SUGA (30) is expected to be discharged in June 2025. According to the timelines, all seven members of BTS will now most likely reunite in 2025.
