Butch Vig Enters Studio With Foo Fighters, Working On “Killer New Songs!”

Super-producer Butch Vig revealed via Twitter today that he’ll be spending the day working with the boys in Foo Fighters on new material and expressed strong optimism about the band’s latest output.

The producer, a long-time collaborator with the Foo Fighters as well as producer of albums such as Nirvana‘s Nevermind and who served as drummer in rock band Garbage, tweeted to fans “In working with Foo’s today. F**k, there are some KILLER new songs! I’m psyched!”

The news comes after Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins confirmed that the band was working on new material back in June. He told Billboard “We’re getting started. We’re getting our ideas together. Dave has his brain working overtime, like usual, and he’s got a lot of great ideas, both musically and conceptually…it’s gonna be great.”

Frontman Dave Grohl later confirmed that the band was indeed working on a new album and that it is most likely slated for a 2014 release, telling XFM “In the past few weeks we’ve written an album and we are going to make this album in a way that no-one’s ever done before…I think next year is going to be a really big year for the Foo Fighters, without question.”

With a “killer” new album in the pipeline, it’s looking like it will be a big year for the Foo Fighters and their fans alike.
