From indie queen to modern day Southern soul heroine, Chan Marshall, known to the world as Cat Power has charted an inimitable musical trajectory that lives in the hearts of fans worldwide and now she’s announced that she’ll be carrying that thread back to Australia with a solo tour in 2014.
It was recently announced that Marshall would be appearing as part of the 2014 Sydney Festival lineup, performing two shows in the Circus Ronaldo Tent, as well as joining other renowned artists for a tribute to Big Star’s Third, with Jody Stephens (Big Star), Mike Mills (R.E.M.), and more.
In addition to these highly anticipated appearances, Marshall will play shows in Melbourne, Fremantle, Canberra (her first show in the capital in over 10 years), will make her debut at the Meeniyan Town Hall in Gippsland, Victoria, and play two shows in Milton on the NSW South coast.
Marshall will be touring in support of her ninth studio album, Sun. Unveiled in 2012, many critics labelled it a spectacular return to form for Marshall, making many end-of-year Top 10 lists. Joining Marshall on tour will be Dirty Three guitarist, and Cat Power collaborator Mick Turner.
