Watch Chadwick Boseman Perform ‘I Ain’t Mad At Cha’ For Tupac Shakur Musical

Footage has been unveiled of the late Chadwick Boseman performing Tupac Shakur’s ‘I Ain’t Mad At Cha’ during a workshop for the 2014 Kenny Leon-directed musical Holler If Ya Hear Me.

Boseman was set to star in the musical but withdrew from the production ahead of its Broadway debut to star as James Brown in the biopic Get on Up. The musical was filmed in full before Boseman left the production – leaving some wondering what should be done with the footage.

For now, a snippet has emerged courtesy of Leon himself, that shows Boseman performing Shakur’s ‘I Ain’t Mad At Cha’. The track comes from the rapper’s fourth studio album, 1996’s iconic All Eyez on Me. The footage sees Boseman rap alongside Christopher Jackson, who went on to play George Washington in the original cast of Hamilton.

“There’s no one quite like him. When I posted the video, I was surprised at how surprised people were that he could do that. He was equally great in everything he touched,” Leon told Deadline earlier this month.

Boseman died aged 43 last month from complications relating to his four-year battle with colon cancer, prompting an outpouring of tributes for the Black Panther star.
