Charli XCX and Sam Smith Team Up For New Single, ‘In The City’

Charli XCX and Sam Smith have teamed up for a thudding club track called ‘In The City’. The track – a standalone single – was produced by a host of big names, including hyperpop whisperers like A.G. Cook, ILYA, Omer Fedi, and The 1975’s George Daniel and Charli herself.

“The song is about finding the people you truly love and connect with through wild nights out and partying in magical places,” Charli XCX – otherwise known as Charlotte Aitchison – shared about the track. “It’s about feeling accepted, the magnificence of being welcomed into queer spaces and those once in a lifetime people you get to meet when you’re there”

“Charli is a force and getting creative with her is so much fun. This track is about freedom and those unforgettable nights of abandon. I loved every minute we spent together making it,” Smith added.

Charli XCX was in the country earlier this year, playing WorldPride and a handful of headline shows. Smith was also here fairly recently, visiting some shops in the Blue Mountains and playing a one-off set at a winery in South Australia.

Smith will return to Australia later this month for an extended tour supporting their latest album Gloria. The tour will kick off on Saturday, 28th October in Adelaide, wrapping up in Brisbane on Wednesday, 8th November.
