Disco punks !!! (Chk Chk Chk) have unveiled their latest music video, featuring their latest single Californiyeah. The track comes off their stunning latest full-length THR!!!ER and if you’re getting a bit of a DIY vibe from the clip, you’re actually onto something.
According to main man Nic Offer, the whole thing was done and dusted after one solid hour of filming. For a song that touches on loving California, but choosing to live in New York, the band decided to take to the streets, hotel lobbies and elevators of Japan for the clip, leaving Offer with some explaining to do:
“The song is about being a Californian and loving it, but choosing NYC. But really we spend more time on the road than in NYC, so Tokyo felt like as good a place as any to make the video.”
“We chose Tokyo because we were tired of sifting through a bunch of treatments and decided to make this video ourselves. We had free time after the show in Tokyo and our sound guy Jamie had his camera with him.
“We liked the way the city looked behind us going up and down in the glass elevator, so we thought why not just goof around and film this thing ourselves. It came out kinda punk looking, it’s not hi-def, but we had a blast doing it.”
The band is now once again State-side supporting the album, which dropped in April, with a run of West Coast shows before making their way Down Under for Falls Festival.
