Corey Taylor Announces New Book ‘Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Heaven’

As if he wasn’t busy enough championing two active metal bands, Corey Taylor has revealed plans to release a brand new book. Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Heaven (Or, How I Made Peace With the Paranormal and Stigmatized Zealots and Cynics in the Process) is the sort of thing that can only come from the mind of Corey Taylor, who uses the book to explore his attempts to understand his paranormal encounters.

The book is set for a Tuesday, 16th July release in the States and sees Taylor delve deep into the spirit world, grasping the roles and responsibilities of several ghost-busting groups who concern themselves with such things. The book explores which are the real deal, and which aren’t, all from the focused mindset of a dude hungry to learn more about the unknown.

Speaking to Loudwire, Taylor explained several seminal moments in his life, revolving around unexplained encounters that led him to “believe in much more than the man in the sky.” Taylor continued to explain that the book will carry on in a similar fashion to his maiden literature release, 2012’s Seven Deadly Sins, adding:

It’s going to have a different vibe to it, but it’s kind of set up the same way [as ‘Seven Deadly Sins’]. It’s a discussion and it’s me trying to figure out how I can have this deep belief in the supernatural and the paranormal and stuff like that and yet I am still a pretty vocal atheist, you know? So it’s me trying to find a new way to figure out what these things are.

The vocalist continued to explain that, despite his faith, he’s searching for more answers, “I’ve seen a lot in my life when it comes to this side of things and I refuse to just write it off like a lot of cynics would. And I’m trying to work it out honestly from a scientific and mathematical point of view. There’s a lot of that in the book and there’s also stories of the experiences I’ve had in the places I’ve lived and the places I’ve worked. There’s a whole chapter about the mansion in which I’ve worked in Los Angeles.”

Pre-orders for the book are available now.
