Say it ain’t so…
For those of us who at one point both indulged in the emo and Disney-spawned pop movements of the early 2000’s, 2019 just might be our year. With the reunion of the Jonas Brothers (their new album, Happiness Begins, out now) now in full effect, one third of the band has now gotten My Chemical Romance fans in a tizz that the Gerard Way-fronted group could be following suit.
We’re prefacing this by saying that this isn’t the first time rumours of an MCR reunion have been bandied about, but with Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge celebrating 15 years in 2019, this one could have weight to it. During an interview with UK radio station KISS FM, Joe Jonas spilled the tea emo fans have been waiting a long, long time for.
“My Chemical Romance were apparently rehearsing next to us in New York recently,” Jonas revealed. “I thought they broke up, so I don’t know…that’s the gossip!”
Use that and run with it as you will; in the meantime, Frank Iero of course has a new album out with his project The Future Violents in Barriers, while Gerard Way’s The Umbrella Academy has been greenlit for a second season on Netflix.
