Donald Glover, aka Childish Gambino, has been cast as beloved fictional lion Simba in the upcoming Disney remake of The Lion King.
Director Jon Favreau announced the news on Twitter, sharing a photo of Glover with the caption, “I just can’t wait to be king.”

Glover is currently staring in his Golden Globe-winning television series Atlanta (which is premiering on Aussie TV soon), and has also been cast as a young Lando Calrissian in the upcoming Han Solo movie.
The partly live-action remake of The Lion King will also see James Earl Jones reprise his role as Mufasa, as Favreau also announced on Twitter:
