In what could well be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Australian fans, Elton John and Pnau have recently announced a special combined set during Elton’s upcoming Australian tour. Earlier in the year the iconic songwriter and the Australian electro dance duo joined forces to release Elton John VS Pnau Good Morning to the Night.
The record sees Pnau thoroughly and painstakingly rifle through Elton’s back catalogue and rework some of his classic, albeit not necessarily most commercially viable, tracks. In her review of the album, Music Feeds’ Jessica Andrews described the record as “an amazing audio experience” that is simply “magic”.
When Music Feeds Senior Journalist, Patrick Abboud, spoke with Pnau’s Peter Mayes, Mayes explained that re-imagining Elton’s past efforts was a challenging experience given the quality of musicianship with John’s music “not necessarily based on a groove…a lot of it’s constantly evolving and there’s like a million chord changes”.
