Eminem’s Surprise Oscars Performance Of ‘Lose Yourself’ Sparks Mass Confusion

Eminem‘s surprise debut on the Oscars stage today had the world scratching its collective head.

The Real Slim Shady took to the stage at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards to perform his smash hit ‘Lose Yourself’ almost two decades after its release, triggering shockwaves of confusion that rippled across the A-list audience and out into the world of social media.

You see, the rapper wasn’t involved in any of the nominated movies this year, and it was evidently unclear to everyone involved as to why he was suddenly performing a 18-year-old song at the 2020 Oscars.

Naturally, screenshots of the many hilarious celeb reactions to Shady’s guerrilla performance have begun circulating online.

And the memes have, of course, begun pouring in:

Em has since taken to social media to explain that he performed today to make up for his 2003 no-show, when ‘Lose Yourself’ won Best Original Song for the 2002 movie 8 Mile:

Despite the confusion, Slim still brought the heat. And in the end, the crowd gave him a standing ovation.

Still, what a moment.
