Emo Icons Yellowcard Announce First Album In Almost A Decade

Hot on the heels of wrapping up their Ocean Avenue anniversary tour of Australia (which involved an unfortunate last-minute gig cancellation for Sydney), Yellowcard are back with a big announcement.

The Florida emo icons have unveiled the details of their first full-length album in almost a decade. Dubbed Better Days, the band’s 11th studio LP was produced by big gun Travis Barker (who also played drums on every song) and is due to reach our ears on Friday, 10th October.

“I started the record as one version of myself and came out the other side changed,” explains frontman Ryan Key, crediting Barker for the personal and professional transformation. “I went in knowing I needed help. I came out of it writing songs like I was 19 again.”

The announcement of Yellowcard’s new LP also comes sweetened with the release of title track ‘Better Days’, described in anofficial press release as “an unflinching reflection on gratitude, forgiveness, perspective and purpose”.

The music video for the track is a joyous homage to 80’s movies, starring the band as cosplaying video store clerks.

“We are focused on this chapter of our career being about happiness,” Keys continues. “This is the most fun we’ve had making a video in 20 years and we hope everyone has a smile on their face when they watch it.”

You can watch the video clip for ‘Better Days’ up above, or pre-order Yellowcard’s new album right here.
