Fifteen more Australian acts have been added to the South by Southwest Music Festival and Conference 2015, joining an already strong local contingent. Tkay Maidza, San Cisco, The Delta Riggs, DMA’s, Meg Mac, Remi. and plenty more will head to Austin, Texas in March, alongside a plethora of international hype acts.
The new Aussie additions bring the total of Australians playing SXSW to 28. Acts including Angus & Julia Stone, Hiatus Kaiyote, Courtney Barnett and Ball Park Music are poised to impress at the conference, which typically attracts industry insiders looking for the next big thing. Over 500 artists have been added to the program in the third artist announcement. Among the international names are British indie-pop act Marina & The Diamonds, Californian lo-fi rockers Best Coast and Arcade Fire’s Will Butler.
SXSW 2015 will be held in March, with over 2,000 performances set to take place during the night. The conference, during the day, features a number of panels exploring the future of the music industry. Each year SXSW invites a keynote speaker to talk; in 2014 Lady Gaga took the honor, while in 2013 Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters stepped up. The keynote speaker is still to be announced for 2015.
