Falls Festival 2014/2015 Lineup

The first wave of acts on the Falls Festival 2014 lineup have been announced, with Alt-J, Röyksopp & Robyn, The Black Lips, Cold War Kids, Glass Animals and more now set to make their way Down Under this December.

The dates and locations for this year’s Falls Festival were announced back in July, igniting a surge of excitement in punters. Organisers confirmed that 2014 would see Falls return to usual stops Marion Bay and Lorne, as well as Byron Bay following a hugely successful inaugural year in 2013.

The lineup, meanwhile, had been kept under tight wraps by the promoters. The rumour mill was kickstarted by the lineup for the Secret Sounds Falls & Splendour SXSW Showcase, as similar showcases by Laneway Festival promoters had previously tipped off punters to lineup acts.

Leaks didn’t start coming through until closer to the official announcement, though swiftly rising German duo Milky Chance put themselves in the running back in June. Songwriter Clemens Rehbein told Triple J that the pair were eyeing festivals in January to make their Aussie debut.

Spiderbait were the first act to strongly hint at a potential Falls appearance, after drummer and vocalist Kram told a Gold Coast publication this month, “I think there’s talk of doing Falls Festival and we’ll do some other festivals in the summer but we’re happy where things are at the moment.”

Shortly after, US ambient producer Tycho outed himself as a Falls and Southbound performer when dates for both events appeared on his website. Most recently, UK indie outfit Glass Animals were described in an issue of Cleo Magazine as having been announced for Falls Festival 2014/15.

The ticket ballot is now open, via the festival’s website, and closes next Monday, 25th August. Ticket sales for successful ballots then start at 9am on Thursday, 28th August, and a “small allocation” of tickets go on sale to the general public from Wednesday, 3rd September.

UPDATE 01/12/14: The Byron Bay leg of Falls Festival 2014/2015 has seen a capacity increase, with up to 2,500 extra to be released tomorrow, 2nd December. Three new acts have also been added to the lineup. Updated full lineup and ticket details are available below.
