Good Charlotte’s First New Song In Four Years Is A Strange Waka Flocka Flame Collab

The internet has been sideswiped by Good Charlotte, who have suddenly returned after calling “hiatus” in 2012. The Madden Brothers’ original band is back with a new song called Game On, which for some reason is a collaboration with US Presidential candidate/rapper Waka Flocka Flame. Yeah, we didn’t see that coming either.

Game On is actually the theme song for Sony’s impending video game disaster movie, Pixels, which stars Adam Sandler – and that should be pretty much all you need to know about that. Basically, the movie features retro game characters like Pacman and Donkey Kong, who are sent from space to destroy the world.

In keeping with the Madden Brothers’ sonic evolution over the years, the movie’s theme song Game On itself represents another shift in the direction of their sound. The best way we can describe it is kind of in the vein of Imagine Dragons’ Radioactive, except overloaded with arcade game sound effects and Flocka Flame rapping lyrics that sound like they were written by Charlie Sheen.

Whether you know them as the pop punk band that brought us The Little Things and Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, or that band that Joel from The Voice Australia was in that one time, it looks like Good Charlotte are back in the game. Do what you will with that information.

Good Charlotte last toured Australia in 2012. Flocka Flame was supposed to tour Australia this year, but cancelled amidst visa issues.
