HAIM Return With New Single & Paul Thomas Anderson-Directed Video, ‘Summer Girl’

Our fave all-sister group HAIM have today returned with their new single, ‘Summer Girl’. It’s the first time we’ve heard new music from the LA group since releasing their second record, Something To Tell You back in 2017.

It’s a strikingly hazy, Lou Reed-inspired track, co-produced with Ariel Reichstaid and Rostam Batmanglij.

The track’s sunny demeanour can be attributed to something darker happening in singer Danielle Haim’s life. ‘Summer Girl’ is about characterising a sort of happiness she wanted to embody.

“I started the song when I found out my partner had cancer. I was on tour and felt like I was trying to send positive energy his way almost telepathically. Whenever I would come home in between shows I wanted to be his sunshine – his summer when he was feeling dark. His hope when he was feeling hopeless,” she said.

They’ve also shared a new clip to accompany the track. The clip sees them reuniting with their longtime collaborator and friend Paul Thomas Anderson who shot and directed the clip.

Check it out below.
