James Vincent McMorrow Announces 2025 Australian Tour

James Vincent McMorrow has announced his return to Australia, playing three east-coast shows this coming June. The intimate solo performances will see the Irish singer-songwriter performing two sets: One comprised of his debut album, 2010’s Early In The Morning, being performed in its entirety, and a second composed of songs from across the rest of his catalogue – including last year’s Wide Open, Horses. The tour dates and ticketing information can be found below.

In a press statement, McMorrow admitted that when he was originally pitched the idea of an Early In The Morning anniversary tour, he baulked. “I wasn’t really into it,” he confessed. “I make music in order to push myself forward, the idea of looking backwards at something I made at the very beginning felt a bit odd.” Upon revisiting some of the songs, however, he realised that he had “forgotten how much [he] loved” the album – as well as that particular period of his career.

“That album changed my life,” he said. “When it came out, I felt like a whole person for the first time – even when I was driving around in my car, playing for 30 people every night, it felt like I was doing a thing that mattered. One thing I have only realised these last few months is just how much that album means to people. It’s not something I’ve ever thought about; I don’t sit around thinking about my records and what they mean. But people keep letting me know, [and it] feels like time has been incredibly kind to it.”

James Vincent McMorrow – ‘We Don’t Eat’

Early In The Morning was originally released in February of 2010, when McMorrow had just turned 27 years old. It spawned three singles: ‘This Old Dark Machine’, ‘Sparrow & The Wolf’ and ‘We Don’t Eat’ – the lattermost of which hit the top 20 of the UK Physical Singles Chart. The album peaked at number 22 on the charts in his native Ireland, and was later certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).

McMorrow last toured Australia in 2017, where he visited in both March and July of that year in support of his fourth studio album True Care. Since he was last in the country, he has issued a further three albums: 2021’s Grapefruit Season, 2022’s The Less I Knew and the aforementioned Wide Open, Horses.
