Julia Jacklin Shares New Song ‘Leadlight’ & Australian Tour Dates

Recently signing to Liberation Music, Julia Jacklin has just announced her debut album Don’t Let The Kids Win will be out this October 7th. To celebrate the news she’s just released a new single Leadlight, as well as dropping some national tour dates on us.

Coming with an accompanying music video, shot in Jacklin’s old high school hall in the Blue Mountains, Leadlight features more stunning songwriting from the Pool Party singer.

“A lot of the shots focus on the stage where I performed in the chorus for Grease and Fiddler on the Roof and the unfortunate time I chose to sing Wonderwall to a backing CD for a senior assembly,” she says of the video.

“I went back there recently and saw the hall in a whole new light. When I was at school I never really thought about it, it was just a boring school hall that I was forced to sit in for long assemblies and exams. Now I think it’s a really beautiful space.”

Riding high on the critical acclaim from her recent shows at SXSW, The Great Escape and her sold out tour through Australia and Europe, the Blue Mountains native is set to have a huge year with global record and agency deals signed sealed and delivered.

Expanding on the indie folk vibe of Pool Party, and recorded in New Zealand with producer Ben Edwards, Don’t Let The Kids Win offers a portrait of the artist as a young woman, still figuring out who she is and who she might be. Rich and full of sentiment and style, the album is sure to be popular with fans and critics alike.

Embarking on an East Coast headline tour in late July, supported by Sydney up and comers Middle Kids, before picking up sticks and heading overseas on a world tour, be sure to catch her here at home before she takes off into the stratosphere.

Tickets for the tour are on sale now, but in the meantime check out the video for Leadlight here with full tour details below.
