Kate Miller-Heidke & The Beards Just Dropped A Festive Charity Christmas Single About Pubes

Kate Miller-Heidke will not be trimming her Christmas tree this year.

The Aussie songstress has teamed up with Adelaide’s most bewhiskered band, The Beards, to record a very special Christmas single for a good cause.

The festive carol has all of the hallmarks of a holiday classic, kicking off with jaunty piano chords, twinkling bells and jubilant lyrics about Christmas, uh, decorations.

But somehow we couldn’t imagine Mariah Carey belting this one out at Carols By Candlelight.

Descriptively dubbed I’m Growing A Beard Downstairs For Christmas, the joyous ditty details Miller-Heidke’s plans to, shall we say, deck her halls with boughs of holly.

“The Beards opened for me on tour a couple of years ago, and some of their fans heckled me for not having a beard,” Miller-Heidke explained about the pair’s collaboration.

“This song is my revenge on them. Also, it taps into my sick love of Christmas songs. It’s one of the poppiest, most upbeat songs I’ve ever written and it’s my dream that it gets played at Westfield during extended Christmas shopping hours. Also, it’s for charity.”

All proceeds from the song – which hits iTunes on November 27th – will go to Bowel Cancer Australia, as part of their Decembeard fundraising drive.

Meanwhile, Miller-Heidke has also announced an 11-stop string of tour dates for the New Year, including a return to Adelaide after her previously-scheduled appearance there was axed with the sad cancellation of this year’s Gorgeous Festival.

Check out all the details for her tour, along with your new favourite Christmas carol, I’m Growing A Beard Downstairs For Christmas, below.
