The Killers Are Playing A Free Show In Melbourne Later This Month

UPDATE: The Killers have now announced a 2018 Australian tour.

ORIGINAL STORY: Already set to perform at this year’s AFL Grand Final, The Killers have today announced they’re playing a free show in Melbourne right after the Grand Final wraps up.

Set to perform as part of the Grand Final pre-game show at the MCG on Saturday, 30th September, Brandon Flowers and co. are also preparing to perform a free concert for fans, which will be open to everyone (even if they didn’t buy tickets to the Grand Final).

The public will be able to access the Virgin Australia Premiership Party for free from 6pm on Grand Final day, through Gates 4, 5 and 6 at the MCG. The party will include a set from The Killers, as well as a presentation of the 2017 AFL Premiers.

In a statement, The Killers say, “People of the great country of Australia — let us inject our American rock and roll tunes into your sporting event, please! AFL here we come.”

The band are yet to announce any other shows for their upcoming trip to Australia, but earlier this year they said they were planning on touring Australia again in 2018.

The Killers’ new album Wonderful Wonderful is set for release on Friday, 22nd September, and the AFL Grand Final pre-show will be fans’ first chance to see new songs performed live down under.
