Korn’s Jonathan Davis Breaks Down Onstage Twice Following Wife’s Death

Beginning Korn’s ‘Follow The Leader’ anniversary tour this week, frontman Korn frontman Jonathan Davis broke down onstage at two separate shows, following the recent death of his estranged wife, Deven.

Video from a San Francisco venue (below) shows Davis struggling to hold it together during what was his first public appearance with Korn since his wife’s passing.

Footage from the show captures a tearful Davis struggling to compose himself when introducing the song ‘4U’. “This is my wife’s favourite song, I’m sorry,” he declares before pausing. “But… this shit is for fucking you!”

The crowd cheers and the band attempts to launch into the song’s introduction, but it quickly becomes apparent something is not right. Davis is floundering, distraught. Finding it difficult to continue he turns his back to the audience, battling for composure.

For those not faint of heart, you can view his emotional moment starting from 1:43, below.

A second clip comes from LA’s Hollywood Palladium the following night. It captures a similar moment, but this time Davis’ struggle occurs towards the end of the set. Again Davis is visibly troubled. At 5:40 he pauses, only able to continue after a lengthy embrace with guitarist James ‘Munky’ Shaffer.

Davis’ estranged wife Deven was died last month at the age of 39.

An official statement from Jonathan Davis revealed he was “heartbroken” about the loss, despite reportedly taking out a restraining order against his wife just hours before her death.
