Laneway Festival 2014 Lineup Here Tuesday Morning

UPDATE: The full Laneway 2014 lineup is here!

The speculation surrounding the lineup for St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival 2014 is quickly gaining momentum, with the official lineup announcement for one of Australia’s most esteemed boutique festivals imminent — right here, Tuesday morning — Music Feeds has compiled all the torque-heavy rumours to help you hedge your bets.

Earlier this evening it was announced that in accordance with Australian music festival guidelines, the lineup for Laneway 2014 will be announced on triple j‘s The Tom and Alex Show. The organisers tweeted their excitement about the impending announcement, stating “It’s like the night before Christmas around here” before Tom and Alex concurred, tweeting “And we’re Santa!”

Glasgow synth-pop trio CHVRCHES confirmed their spot on the Laneway 2014 roster to Music Feeds back in August. It took a mid-interview, on-air phone call to Laneway organisers, but the trio assured fans that they will be back Down Under in 2014 to play the event.

UK post-punk quartet Savages let slip their appearance at Laneway 2014 during an interview back in May, with drummer Fay Milton telling The Vine: “I don’t know if our festival has been announced actually, but I’ve been to the festival before – it should be good.” The band performed alongside The National and Sigur Ros for 2013’s inaugural US Laneway in Detroit.

Strong rumours have been circulating about US producer Washed Out, who likewise played Laneway Detroit and told Tone Deaf fans can expect shows in “the first couple of months of next year.”

Psychedelic beat maker XXYYXX played Laneway’s SXSW party earlier this year and has supported CHVRCHES on their tour dates. New York five-piece HAERTS also supported CVRCHES for a string of US dates making them a strong possibility.

Other electronic names that have been suggested include Four Tet, who’s slated to play Japan dates in December, Matthew Dear who played Laneway Detroit and its accompanying after party, and NZ songstress and recent addition to the Miley Cyrus-fan hit list, Lorde. Laneway also presented Lorde’s 2013 tour.

Sisterly trio HAIM are set to be dropping their debut album soon, which could translate into Australian appearances in early 2014. Laneway co-founder Danny Rogers is known to be a fan of Bored Nothing, saying “How awesome is this guy? Love him, the songs are unreal.” He expressed similar sentiments to FasterLouder about Vance Joy, saying “Just beautiful lyrics set to gorgeous guitar tones.”

Other names bandied about include King Krule, Krule collaborators Mount Kimbie, The Preatures, Icona Pop, Spoon, and some strong rumours circulating about Killer Mike, with Danny Rogers telling FL “We want [him] at next year’s Laneway.” The Atlanta rapper recently played the Detroit edition with fellow rapper El-P.

Music Feeds will have the complete lineup right here for you the second it’s announced tomorrow morning.
