Listen: Animal Collective ‘Crimson’ New Non-Album Track

Baltimore indie-electro stars Animal Collective have only just released their new album Centipede Hz to fans earlier this week, but already we’re getting a taste of some new material with a new track titled Crimson, performed on US radio station KCRW. You can listen to it below.

The band released the new album this week, and described it to NME, saying that this album – which is their tenth and the follow-up to 2010’s “visual album” ODDSAC – has seen them go “back to their roots” and away from the overload of samples on their recent releases.

“We all moved back to Baltimore, the last few records we’ve written apart and by sending each other stuff,” band member Brian Weitz said. “This time we all wanted to write in the same room together. We went back to our roots and we got a little practice space in this barn on Josh’s [Dibb – fellow band member] mum’s property and it was like being a garage band again.”

Animal Collective will be touring on next year’s Big Day Out 2013 lineup.
