Linkin Park have unleashed yet another cut from their highly anticipated and heavy new album The Hunting Party. The track is called Final Masquerade and arrives hot on the heels of Rebellion, the band’s much talked-about collaboration with System of a Down guitarist Daron Malakian.
In an upcoming interview with Music Feeds for Music Feeds Podcast, bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell dispells some of the misconceptions about the new album. “I think some people have gotten confused, [they think] this record is like Hybrid Theory,” he says. “It’s not so much that, but I think it’s more like this is us revisiting what really got us excited to play instruments in the first place.”
Phoenix explains that as a result of the band “drawing back on earlier influences that were influencing Hybrid Theory, Meteora, the early stuff,” The Hunting Party does bear a similar “energy and angst” as their earlier albums and is “guitar driven and it’s heavy and all that fun stuff.”
Readers can listen to the new track below whilst playing the band’s new video game, Linkin Park Recharge – Wastelands. As GameSpot reports, the iPad-exclusive third-person shooter gives fans the chance to play as a member of the band and promotes a message of environmental awareness.
