Matt Corby, Tim Rogers Added To Bluesfest Lineup

Organisers for the 2014 edition of the mammoth Byron Bay Bluesfest, have just dropped their eighth, that’s right eighth, lineup announcement, catapulting the already stellar bill even further out into the stratosphere. With this latest announcement, Bluesfest 2014 welcomes along the likes of locals Matt Corby, Tim Rogers and international multimedia music project Playing For Change.

The latest announcement is laden with some of the country’s best folk, blues, hip-hop and dub artists, not plus a special reunion of a much loved 90’s era Australian band Skunkhour. Sydney’s Matt Corby leads the charge, bringing his heartfelt, guitar belting music to the Bluesfest stage.

Corby became a household name with his 2011 hit Brother, which was nominated for APRA Song of the Year, scored three ARIA Award nominations and won ARIA song of the year in 2012. His latest single, Resolution, is now certified three times platinum, again won Song of the Year at the 2013 ARIA Awards and reached number 8 on the Triple J Hottest 100.

Legendary Australian rocker Tim Rogers, best known as the guitarist, singer, and primary songwriter of the essential rock band You Am I is also joining the Bluesfest family. With a career that is motoring along in its third unique decade, Tim Rogers will also be joined on stage by long-time collaborator, Shane O’Mara.

Australian 90’s rock legends Skunkhour will be reuniting for a special Bluesfest appearance. Forming in Sydney in 1992, the seminal pub rockers fused many influences to create a sound and catalogue like no other. Named after a poem by Robert Lowell, Skunkhour’s sound mashes elements of funk, rock, hip hop, and dub, no doubt making for one hell of a Bluesfest comeback.

Another notable addition to the Bluesfest bill is the inclusion of the Playing for Change musical project, a collaboration of musicians who inspire, connect and bring peace to the world through their music. Check out the project’s video Stand By Me below, which has received 59 million hits and counting.

Rounding out the announcement are Foy Vance, Kim Churchill, Saskwatch, Dubmarine, Watussi, Tijuana Cartel and Lime Cordiale with organisers promising even more additions to come. Chack out teh
