It promised to bring “a taste of Glastonbury and Coachella” to the picturesque surrounds of New Zealand, and now the new McLaren Valley Festival has come good on that promise, dropping a 2016 lineup featuring English dance duo Disclosure, alt-rockers The Flaming Lips, Kurt Vile & The Violators and Aussies Alison Wonderland and The Preatures.
The maiden lineup for McLaren Valley Festival (formerly known as The McLaren Falls Music And Arts Festival) also includes the likes of New Zealand’s The Chills, hard rock outfit The Datsuns and Scottish alternative hip hop group Young Fathers. Catch the full first lineup announcement, below.
While the first set of acts has now been announced, festival director Paxton Talbot says there are many more still to be announced.
“We’ve picked these artists with excellence in mind. Bands and performers who, no matter their genre, will be able to speak to any member of the audience on some level, just due to their sheer calibre,” Talbot says.
The first-ever McLaren Valley Music & Arts Festival is set to take place across three stages at the gorgeous McLaren Falls Park in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty in January 2016.
The three-day all-ages festival is promising punters rolling hills, expansive forests, markets, a wellness program, village and themed camping options and even the chance to hang out in some glow worm caves.
