Metallica Offer Bribe To Bring Back ‘Metalocalypse’, Talk New Album

Metallica are doing the Lord’s work – this time for petitioning Hulu for a final season of Metalocalypse, joining the #MetalocalypseNow campaign by sending a “care package” to the steaming service.

Including a typed note and a fistful of picks, the package was sent in response to Metalocalypse creator Brendan Small’s very public desire to release a final season after the show’s former network Adult Swim chose not to renew the show for its final run of episodes.

Reaching out to fans of the show to show support on social media to help him get a deal through at Hulu, Metallica delivered by sending the below package to the online streaming service.

This follows on of course from news that came out earlier this week that Metallica were working on a new album. Speaking to EMG TV about his guitars, frontman James Hetfield dropped some exciting hints about just how far along the new album is.

“I tell ya, we’re recording right now, and there’s the number one guitar, there’s the number two guitar, there’s the number three. And here’s the third-track guitars that just sound different. They all sound different.”

This follows comments from Kirk Hammett earlier this year, who confirmed the band were headed into the studio. “We have a lot of good songs,” he told Billboard. “We have well over a dozen songs and we still have well over two or three hundred riffs, too, so it’s hard to say at what point we actually are in in the project. I don’t think we hit the middle point yet. I would say we’re at the 25 percent point, maybe 30 percent point.”

The first album the band have worked on since 2011’s Lulu, their critically panned collaboration with Lou Reed, this will be the fist Metallica album since 2008’s Death Magnetic. Stay tuned for more news, and you can watch the full video interview here below.
