METZ Announce New Album ‘Up On Gravity Hill’

Toronto’s punk rock band Metz is making a return in 2024 with their new album, Up On Gravity Hill, which is set to be released on April 12th, via Sub Pop Records and Dine Alone Records (Canada).

The band has already given fans a taste of what’s to come by releasing two electrifying singles, “99” and “Entwined (Street Light Buzz).” Each track delves into distinct themes, as described by Metz’s own Alex Edkins, “Entwined (Street Light Buzz)”

METZ Frontman Alex Adkins Unveils Song Details in Press Release

METZ frontman Alex Edkins said via a press release, “These two songs couldn’t be more stylistically and thematically dissimilar. ‘Entwined (Street Light Buzz)’ is a song about the deep connection humans can foster with one another and how we carry people with us forever, even after death. ‘99’ is about the scourge of corporate greed and bottom-line thinking that runs rampant in modern society. Anything for a buck is the message being sent to younger generations.”

In this upcoming album we will see Metz collaborating with acclaimed engineer Seth Manchester, known for his work with esteemed acts such as Battles and The Body. Additionally, the record boasts arrangements from the talented Owen Pallett and features a guest performance by Amber Webber of Black Mountain, promising an eclectic and dynamic listening experience.

Metz wastes dropped not one but two singles to kick off their comeback. With their trademark raw energy and sound, the band is set to captivate audiences once again with their new album Up on Gravity Hill on April 12th.
