UPDATED: Modest Mouse Confirm New Album For Early 2015

Washington band Modest Mouse are prepping their eighth studio album for release in 2015, and it looks like fans will get their ears on a first taste from the album in only a few days time.

A representative from Epic Records, Modest Mouse’s record label, has reportedly confirmed to Revolt the band’s next full-length release, their first since 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, will arrive in the first quarter of 2015.

The band’s social media activity has also fuelled new music rumours, after a vinyl record labelled “Lampshades On Fire” (below) was posted to their newly-created Instragram account yesterday. According to Consequence of Sound, a song of the same name was first debuted live by the band in 2011.

Speculation that Lampshades On Fire will act as the first single from the next Modest Mouse record has been all but confirmed by 91X radio presenter Robin Roth, who posted a photo to her Instagram (below) showing what resembles a promotional copy of the track on CD. Roth captioned the photo by saying the song will debut on Monday, 15th December.

Modest Mouse’s next album has been in the pipeline for some time, with the band even scrapping tours in order to focus on recording. The release will also reportedly feature contributions from Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic.
