Motor Ace Announce ‘Five Star Laundry’ 20th Anniversary Tour

Motor Ace will reunite next year for a tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut album, Five Star Laundry.

Melbourne band Motor Ace released Five Star Laundry in March 2001. The record included a slew of singles, such as ‘Chairman of the Board’, ‘American Shoes’, ‘Hey Driver’ and ‘Death Defy’. It made it to #4 on the ARIA Albums Chart and paved the way for the commercial success of the band’s next album, 2002’s Shoot This.

The Five Star Laundry 20th anniversary tour begins in Perth in early June 2022, before making its way to Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide and Melbourne.

Motor Ace have also announced a 20th anniversary re-issue of Five Star Laundry, which lands on Friday, 5th November. The reissue comes in multiple formats, including a limited edition double-LP red vinyl, as well a 22-track expanded digital edition. The digital edition features bonus tracks from Motor Ace’s Live At The Chapel performance in 2003.

“Five Star Laundry, when it’s said and done, is Motor Ace,” singer Patrick Robertson said in a statement. “As you’d expect from a bunch of twenty year olds, perhaps it lacks a little sophistication here and there. But for me, Five Star Laundry truly captures, on record, the ‘all-in’ energy and the desperation of four guys trying to make a mark.”
