Ms. Lauryn Hill Announces 2019 Australian ‘Miseducation’ Tour With Nas

Ms. Lauryn Hill has announced a 2019 Australian tour for the 20th anniversary of her influential debut solo album The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill.

Last in Australia for Bluesfest earlier this year, the American singer and rapper will return down under in February for shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, supported by her longtime friend and collaborator Nas (best known for his 1994 album Illmatic).

Speaking about the upcoming tour, Hill says the release of The Miseducation in 1998 “chronicled an intimate piece” of her young life.

“It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date. I loved and believed deeply in my community’s ability to both love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement,” she says.

“Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with love and optimism at the helm.”

Ms. Lauryn Hill first rose to fame as a member of the Fugees, before going on to find success with solo singles like ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’ and ‘Everything Is Everything’.

Last month, Hill published a lengthy essay responding to allegations of plagiarism, after musician Robert Glasper accused her of “stealing music” for The Miseducation.
