Neil Finn, The Church Join BIGSOUND Speaker Lineup

Not long after announcing a massive live music lineup organisers of the country’s leading music industry conference and showcase, Brisbane’s BIGSOUND, have revealed legendary musician Neil Finn and members of classic rock band The Church are amongst the event’s three dozen speakers.

The event takes place over 10th and 11th September, with punters given the choice over 140 artists to experience over the two nights in fourteen incredible venues in the Fortitude Valley live music precinct, Brisbane’s iconic live music hub and the setting for many memorable performances.

Neil Finn will open proceedings discussing his long career from Split Enz and Crowded House to his solo albums and side projects. The Church, including outspoken frontman Steve Kilbey, will also discuss their time in the industry plus play a special album preview show exclusively for BIGSOUND delegates.

They’ll join already announced representatives from SXSW, The Great Escape, The Windish Agency’s Tom Windish, Kevin French of Paradigm and Bonnaroo and Superfly’s Chris Sampson as well as local industry heavyweights like Ben Marshall of the Sydney Opera House, and St Jerome’s Laneway Festival’s Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio at the 2014 event.

Bluesfest director and co-founder Peter Noble will also deliver a keynote speech while US YouTube blogger and founder of The Needle Drop Anthony Fantano, Reggie Ba-Pe III from China’s Sonically Transmitted Disease, Anuj Gupta from India’s Only Much Louder and other new speakers will share their perspectives on cutting edge industry debates.

“When we say BIGSOUND means business, we mean it,” said BIGSOUND programmer Nick O’Byrne in a statement. “Whether it’s labels, publishers, live bookers and more, we’ve got some of the most important players in the global music business here to see the best new music and join in the discussion about one of the most dynamic industries on the planet.”

Tickets to BIGSOUND Live are available for $69 + booking fee from OzTix, while those looking for the full BIGSOUND experience, including access to the illustrious roster of industry speakers, still have time to grab tickets from the BIGSOUND site.
